Mdm Puang
Oasis@Outram patient
At 83, Mdm Puang's life has been a testament of resilience and strength. Diagnosed with breast cancer in 2017, and later with liver cancer, she has faced her share of battles. But since her referral to Oasis@Outram in the last few months, the day centre has become a place of comfort for her.
Previously working as a cleaner, she gave up her job after her breast cancer diagnosis. Today, she lives with her son who ensures she receives the care and attention she needs at home. However, Mdm Puang looks forward to Tuesdays and Fridays for her twice weekly visits to Oasis@Outram. These visits have become the highlights of her week, a time when she can connect with others and engage in activities; her favourite being the group exercises.
When she is not at Oasis@Outram, Mdm Puang keeps herself engaged and entertained at home. "I watch exercise videos to keep active," as she explains her routine to maintain her strength and mobility. "I also like Chinese television shows like Golden Age Talentime on Channel 8," she shares with a broad smile.
Despite the life hardships she has faced, Mdm Puang's spirit remains unbroken. With the help of her time at Oasis@Outram and the community of care, she has kept her spirits up.
A time when she can connect with others and engage in activities; her favourite being the group exercises.
